CHANGE OF SIDE IN COVERAGE
Exactly the same as with the short weapon, with the long weapons you must master the shot with the right and with the left. On many occasions we must shoot from a cover on the left or right side and practicing the change of grip is essential so that the weapon is well seated on the shoulder and we can maintain the quality of the shot.
Currently there is a tendency to simplify this movement by tilting the weapon to save instruction time. Unfortunately, this technique overexposes the shooter’s body and has a 60% loss of impact on rapid fire, even with red dot designators. It would only be really useful when shooting underneath a vehicle, where the magazine prevents us from firing in the correct position.
